What is NILD?
NILD Educational Therapy is a direct, language-based intervention for students with learning disabilities. Our focus is to strengthen the underlying weaknesses rather than simply treating the symptoms. it supports students with dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia, as well as those with ADHD, Auditory Processing Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and more. NILD Educational Therapy is a true therapy because it is individualized and aims the intervention just above the student's level of functioning and raises expectations for performance.

Why choose NILD educational therapy?
Often students struggle with reading and math in school because they learn differently than their peers. Tutoring and accommodations can help in the short term, but educational therapy has long-term impact because it targets the underlying weaknesses and uses structured techniques to strengthen learning pathways. The brain can develop new pathways with therapy just as a joint can heal with help of a physiotherapist. With one to three years of consistent hard work, students often become confident, independent learners.

Does my child need a Psychological Education Assessment to qualify for NILD Educational Therapy?
A Psychological Education Assessment helps to direct the theraputic techniques used, so that improvement is made more quickly and efficiently. If the student does not have a Psych. Ed. already, it is highly recommended to pursue one.

How much does NILD Educational Therapy cost?
NILD therapy is a considerable committment of time and resources by student, parent, and therapist. Each week, the student has two eighty-minutes sessions with the therapist and returns home with daily activities to reinforce techniques learned. Along with this, initial and ongoing testing helps to direct the therapist's work with the student. The costs depend on the student and their specific challenges.

At what age should I enroll my child in NILD Educational Therapy?
NILD Educational Therapy is effective at almost any age. It is usually begun at a minimum age of eight, once it is established that a student struggles with academic performance.
